Join the Georgia Conservancy for a weekend on Sapelo Island that combines natural beauty, outdoor recreation, African-American cultural heritage and service work.

During the weekend of October 14-16, we will host our annual Sapelo Island Service Weekend with our partners at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, University of Georgia Marine Science Institute, and Sapelo Island Cultural and Revitalization Society. Friday and Saturday will include opportunities to explore and enjoy Sapelo’s natural and cultural heritage, including the world famous Sapelo Island Annual Culture Day Festival (an extra $25 fee, paid at the event).

Service work will include trail maintenance, historic restoration and helping the Geechee community in Hog Hammock breakdown from their annual cultural festival, which brings over 1,000 people to the island each year. Expect to do service work between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday morning. Bank of America will host a “Sapelo Island Beach Sweep” on Saturday morning. *No morning ferry is offered. All guests must depart on Sapelo on the afternoon ferry.
