Some might wonder, “what can I do to make smarter decisions about clean air?” Well we are so happy you asked. Join us on Saturday, February 23rd as leading environmentalists and social justice advocates come together for a robust community conversation about environmental health justice and African American communities.
We will discuss the intersection of clean air and how it benefits human health and climate change. As we begin to understand how, often, issues around air pollution are inextricably tied to health challenges, specifically in the African American community, it allows us to view conversations once thought of as simple, in more nuanced ways. Conversations about the monitoring of air quality start to look different when we observe if one group of people are affected disproportionately to others.
This Community Table Talk is an event which ensures everyone has a seat at the table – inviting all to take part in an open and honest dialogue environmental health justice within the African American community, while enjoying light hors d’oeuvres. Our panel of speakers will address what it means to fight for and succeed in securing environmental health justice in our community at a time when health protections are under threat, whether from toxic chemicals to air pollution and climate change.
This event is free, open to the public. Registration is strongly encouraged.
