OUMA Collects: Recent Acquisitions 2016-2017

The permanent collection of OUMA is unique among museum collections in that it has been developed almost entirely through the gifts of our donors. This exhibition, developed almost entirely through the gifts of our donors, celebrates their generosity that continues to benefit the mission of OUMA. The permanent collection serves first and foremost as a teaching collection to benefit the curricular goals of Oglethorpe University. Recent gifts include: works by French artists Camille Pissarro, Marc Chagall and Paul Huet and works by British artists William Powell Frith and Anthony Van Dyke Copley Fielding among others that have further enhanced the museum’s significant collection of 19th century works on paper; American Impressionist Paul Cornoyer; and ten works by Hattie Saussy whose works not only enhanced OUMA’s collection of American South art, but will be included in Hattie Saussy: Rediscovery of an Artist, which will be touring to the Telfair Museum of Savannah in the summer of 2017.
