Spelman College will host “Deadly Consequences: A Community Discussion on Gun Violence” Saturday, October 15 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This forum is the result of a “Call for Peace and Unity” letter signed by Spelman President Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., and 34 HBCU presidents to address gun violence in African-American communities.
The event will feature keynote speaker Dr. Deborah Prothrow Stith, C’75, a public health scholar activist and practitioner. She is dean and professor of medicine for the College of Medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. Dr. Stith has been recognized internationally as a public health leader who has advised numerous healthcare, life sciences, academic, and not-for-profit institutions in her role as a principal with Spencer Stuart, a global executive search and leadership consulting firm.
The event is free and open to the public. It will take place in the Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby, Ed. D. Academic Center Auditorium (GPS Address: 440 Westview Drive, Atlanta 30310).
