The Atlanta Jazz Festival’s MARTA Mondays’ second event will take place Monday, May 14 from 4 – 6 p.m. at Avondale Station as a part of the 31 Days of Jazz events. MARTA Mondays feature free live jazz at a different MARTA transit station on Monday afternoons. These two-hour jazz concerts provide a preview to the upcoming Atlanta Jazz Festival in Piedmont Park.
Who:
Performing at the second MARTA Monday will be the Mike Walton Quartet. At just 10 years old, Walton got his start as a saxophonist and continued on the path to become a jazz musician, receiving his master’s degree in jazz studies. Now living in Atlanta, Walton regularly performs with the Joe Gransden big band and Russell Gunn’s Blackhawk quintet as well as working on his own projects and original music.
