Action Cycling Atlanta’s Aids Vaccine 200 (AV200)

Action Cycling Atlanta (ACA), Atlanta’s leading all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to ending HIV/AIDS through sporting fundraisers, will host its 17th annual AIDS Vaccine 200 (AV200), a 200-mile charity bike ride through Georgia’s countryside to raise funds for HIV/AIDS vaccine research and AIDS service organizations.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from AV200 and other ACA fundraising efforts go toward HIV/AIDS vaccine research at the Emory Vaccine Center, as well as toward other Atlanta-area AIDS service organizations that educate on HIV/AIDS-related issues, improve the lives of those affected by the condition and reduce the spread of the disease.

During AV200, riders willtravel from Emory University to Eatonton, Ga. on May 18 and then back to Emory on May 19 after spending the night at Rock Eagle’s 110-acre lake. The ride passes through Atlanta suburbs then into Georgia’s countryside past several scenic towns. Participants include individual riders and relay teams, with support from a volunteer crew for refueling pit stops every 15 miles.

AV200 ride weekend kicks off on Friday, May 17 with a welcome dinner for riders and crew at Emory University School of Medicine. The deadline to register for AV200 is at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 17 at rider check-in and the fee for all two-day rides is $100.
