Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, in partnership with the Atlanta Black-Jewish Coalition, is pleased to present a screening of Blue Note Records: Beyond the Notes. This inspiring documentary tells the story of two visionaries of the recording industry who together helped usher in an exciting new era of jazz at a time when African-American musicians faced discrimination. After the film, walk next door to Apres Diem for a post-film mix-and-mingle and light bites, set to the jazz stylings of the Dave Frackenphol Trio.
The Atlanta-Black Jewish Coalition is an initiative of American Jewish Committee, started in 1982 by a group of concerned citizens from Atlanta’s Black and Jewish communities, who came together to campaign for the renewal of the Voting Rights Act. Those involved decided to create a coalition to ensure that open dialogue and partnership between Blacks and Jews continues in Atlanta.
