R. Alexander presents Art of Wine, the upcoming exhibition featuring paintings of wine and vineyards. The show will be on display at R. Alexander from October 7-November 9, 2019. In conjunction with Gwinnett Library, a special event will be held at R. Alexander on Friday, October 11 at 6 pm with renowned wine expert Kevin Begos. He will discuss his travels along the original wine routes in the Caucasus Mountains and highlight his continued wine research while crossing from the Mediterranean to Europe and then America. Prior to his author’s talk, enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and view the art exhibit!
Displayed paintings include Javier Mulio’s signature wine still lifes and Mario Jung’s colorful vineyards. Spanish artist Javier Mulio strategically combines color, light, and meticulous attention to detail to encourage viewers to appreciate the intricacies of wine culture. In contrast to Javier’s refined realist style, Mario presents a wide array of Italian grape fields with his iconic use of thickly textured impasto paint. His meticulously developed style showcases his artistic expertise. Sometimes using up to twelve tubes of paint for a single painting, his heavily textured works take the physical shape of the represented landscapes.
