Registration is now open for the Atlanta Humane Society’s “Run for the Rescues” 5K and Fun Run, which takes place on Saturday, March 23 at Suwanee Town Center Amphitheatre. The event will raise funds to support the local non-profit’s work finding homes for adoptable pets.
The Fun Run, which is a one-mile course, kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K begins at 9:15 a.m. Both races start in front of the library on Main Street. Attendees are encouraged to bring their dogs out for this event to benefit homeless pets in Atlanta. After the race, participants can enjoy awards, prizes, food and beverages, vendors and more.
All competitors who register early will receive the official “Run for the Rescues” t-shirt and runner’s bag. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top finishers for both men and women overall and in age groups. Awards will also be given to the top three dogs to cross the finish line in the 5K, and bandanas will be awarded to all dogs participating in the event.
Early registration fees are $25 for the 5K and $15 for the Fun Run. After March 8, 2019, the fees will increase to $30 for the 5K and $20 for the Fun Run.
The Atlanta Humane Society, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit and one of the oldest private charitable organizations in Atlanta, serves about 30,000 animals each year and places approximately 10,000 dogs and cats into forever homes.
