Atlanta SuperJam : Jamtronica

Rhythm-n-News is proud to host another installment of the Atlanta SuperJam! 2017 was a fantastic year for Rhythm-N-News and we are excited to bring back our monthly SuperJam in 2018. We have already been working hard on some new and exciting events for next year and the first will be the Atlanta SuperJam on January 17th at Aisle 5! We will be highlighting and celebrating all things Jamtronica this month with a wonderful night featuring over a dozen of Atlanta’s best local talent with a focus on synthesizers and electronic instruments. We are excited to bring a blend of DJ culture and electronic instruments to the stage for a full band jam experience with rotating local musicians showing off their individual styles.

HOUSE BAND:

Guitar:
Thomas Garrett

Thomas Garrett is a modern fusion shred engineer most known for his work with ATL native jamtronica band Lucidea. Thomas has graced the stages of many notable music festivals such as Sweetwater 420 fest, Wakarusa, and Counterpoint. His background of jazz and full on shred guitar has been described by theuntz.com as sounding like Carlos Santana on a particularly influencial acid trip, surely making his role in this superjam pleasing to your earholes.

Bass:
Ben Rickard

Ben Rickard was destined to be a musician. As the son of two music majors, he began experimenting with different music at an early age. He originally started out playing the guitar at 8 years old, picked up the trumpet at 11, but then found his true passion to be the bass. Ben has been playing the bass for over 15 years now. He specializes in funk, jazz, reggae, and improvisation. Ben has played with Offbeat Hooligans and just started a new project called Soular.

Keys:
Joe McGrath

Joe McGrath is an Atlanta-based freelance purple power ranger, producer, and zebra keys tickler. He is a recent Graduate of SAE and is not to be underestimated.

Drums:
Daniel McBeezy

MCBEEZY has had an accolade filled history as a nationally touring drummer for a handful of live electronic acts like Elemental Harmonics, EP3, and Social Espionage. Since 2010, he has also been a staple DJ in the Atlanta scene, as well as a budding electronic music producer. This year sees him back behind the kit with new electronic collaborations with old and new friends alike.

Percussion:
Justin Weston

Justin likes to funk. One day he decided to get funky on some drums. Now he is here to put the funk all up in your face and don’t expect no apology. #funkinandaroundyourholes
