Tour the town during the 27th Annual Avondale Estates Christmas Tour of Homes! Park at Avondale First Baptist Church and catch the trolley or bus for a two-hour tour of six homes on Sunday, December 15. One of the greatest things about Avondale is the mix of old and new… homes built in every decade since Avondale Estates began as one of the country’s earliest planned communities. This year’s tour has it all…an “Avondale Original” built when the city was founded in 1926, homes built in the 40s, 50s, and 60s and one of the newest homes in town built in 2014. Purchase or pick up tickets at the Avondale Community Club, a historic structure built on Lake Avondale in the 1920s. The Holiday Market, open noon to 6, features over 30 artists and vendors selling everything you need to finish your shopping list. The Market Cafe will serve homemade soups, sandwiches and other treats. Avondale’s own Mary Kay Andrews will be selling and signing her books, too! The First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates will present their “Christmas in Avondale – A Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols” at 7:00pm. Tickets for the tour may be purchased for $15 in advance at Avondale City Hall, Finders Keepers Furniture, and Garage Door Studio or for $20 on the tour day at the Avondale Community Club. To ride a trolley, remember to reserve a spot with Margaret Lunsford at email@example.com.
