Join the Honorary Consul of Liechtenstein to the South and Southeastern United States, the Atlanta Council on International Relations and the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta for “In Conversation With… The Ambassador of the Principality of Liechtenstein to the United States, H.E. Kurt Jaeger” as he talks about The relationship of Liechtenstein with the EU as a model in a Post-Brexit World.
Over the last six months the U.S., European and transatlantic community find themselves in the midst of processing the implications of what are perceived as major turning points. The so called “Brexit,” where the British people voted to pull out of the European Union, and the U.S. elections have called into question the status quo of the U.S.-European relationship and the future of the EU. As we consider what is in store for 2017, including major elections in Europe, such as France and Germany, many are looking to see if a move towards nationalism will continue to prevail. As a non-EU member located in Central Europe, the Principality of Liechtenstein has a unique relationship within Europe. It has a highly industrialized and prosperous economy while also maintaining active international relationships. How does Liechtenstein’s model of engagement with its European neighbors and the transatlantic and global communities offer insight into the changing landscape?
