Formed as a jazz ensemble in the mid-’60s, Kool & The Gang became one of the most influential soul and funk bands during the ’70s, and one of the most popular R&B groups of the ’80s after their breakout hit “Celebration” in 1979. The band has received two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards and has been inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Their discography includes 23 studio albums, almost 70 singles and has sold more than 7.5 million albums and 4.5 singles.
