Make Room of the 2017 American Craft Show in Atlanta

The American Craft Show in Atlanta’s Make Room: Modern Design Meets Craft is returning for its fifth year, with this year’s theme being “In Space and Time.” This home décor exhibition, which puts craft into context by featuring room vignettes created by designers who have been inspired by objects or fine craft, will feature iconic pieces that visually communicate the changing styles throughout the decades.

This year’s four participating vignette designers/curators are:
• Willem Stear of Tonic Design Studio in Buckhead, who will accentuate the feeling of 1940s Hollywood glamour under the influence of World War II using strong and bold elements
• Leah Atkins of Leah Atkins Design in Lawrenceville, who will channel the 1950s as a time of change between traditional 1940s and modern 1960s with a mixture of styles
• Laurie Scholl of The Wish List Antiques & Interiors of DeKalb County, who will highlight women’s growing self-expression and the ensuing liberation movement of the 1970s with organic and airy design elements, and,
• Alejandra Dunphy of A|D Studio in Fulton County, who will feature the 1960s’ innovation and creativity with playful and bright pop colors and modern and clean line principles. Dunphy also serves as an interior design professor at Savannah College of Art and Design.
