WHAT:
Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV), Georgia’s first, largest and most experienced nonprofit working to end domestic violence, will host its 7th annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. The event will take place at the Mary Gay House on October 25, 2018 from 6 – 7:30 p.m.
The event recognizes those who have lost their lives to intimate partner violence and gives loved ones a chance to grieve together while raising awareness. PADV is inviting the community to this year’s Candlelight Vigil to light candles and listen to powerful testimonies from survivors. Last year’s event recognized more than 70 victims with over 100 supporters in attendance.
WHO:
PADV is currently the largest nonprofit domestic violence agency in Georgia, serving metro Atlanta since 1977. Their mission is to end the crime of intimate partner violence and empower its survivors. PADV helps to transform the lives of approximately 20,000 women and children every year through emergency intervention, education, violence prevention and long‐term advocacy.
