Emily Cargill and Dancers’ newest evening-length work, quiet beings, will make its world premiere
on January 19-20, 2018 at Emory University’s Performing Arts Studio.
Drawing from her experiences of her recent plunge into motherhood, Emily Cargill’s work will shine
an honest light onto the bizarre, hilarious, excruciating, terrifying, beautiful, inevitable process of
saying good-bye to a former self and hello to a new one. quiet beings will dissect the emotional and
physical quest of self, as one teeters on the edge of old and new, past and present, memories and
dreams. What exists in that middle space, the shadow land, of a person who is so familiar, yet we
barely recognize, and the someone else who feels like a stranger crowding us in our new skin?
On a barren stage, the ensemble of 8 women surge and float between worlds, while offering the
audience a look at the breathtaking process of redefining one’s self.
