Spelman College Faculty Symposium Series ‘Equality: Black Women Mapping the City’– Sept. 14-15

The continuation of the Spelman College inaugural faculty symposium series, Equality: Black Women Mapping the City, kicks off with a screening and discussion of the film Detropia at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14. On Thursday, Sept. 15, at 12 p.m., there will be a conversation entitled Creating Life: Research, Art and Lived Experiences in Detroit with Aimee Meredith Cox, Ph.D., assistant professor, African and African American Studies, Fordham University; and Aku Kadogo, chair, Spelman Department of Drama. The conversation will be followed by Shapeshifters: Black Girls and the Choreography of Citizenship – a lecture, discussion, and book signing with Dr. Cox at 6 p.m.

The series is sponsored by the Presidential Inauguration Committee, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Department of Education, Comparative Women’s Studies and the Social Justice Program.
