Style Slam Pop-Up at the 2018 American Craft Show in Atlanta

Four professional fashion and wardrobe stylists based in Atlanta will join Style Slam Pop-Up at the American Craft Show in Atlanta, March 16-18, 2018 at Cobb Galleria Centre. Connecting craft artists with professionals in the city’s fashion industry, the Style Slam program helps show attendees discover how they might incorporate fine craft wearables into their wardrobes.

This year’s four participating Style Slam Pop-Up stylists are:

  • Naghmeh Fatima Ghayour (@nilabolour on Instagram) of Nila Bolour in Suwanee, who will create a powerful look with simple, modern and organic craft pieces,
  • Ashlan Riess (@ashlanriess on Instagram) of Cumming, who will complete an original yet effortlessly chic outfit with statement accessories highlighting unique shapes and vibrant hues,
  • Whitney McMillan (@covetedluxe on Instagram) of Coveted Luxe of Dallas, who will focus on classic silhouettes and neutral colors with accessories to elevate each look, and
  • MJ Sykes of coralOne (@thechiefdesigner on Instagram) of Conyers, who plans to present audacious looks by mixing different textures and craft mediums.

Style Slam Pop-Up challenges the stylists to create signature looks at the show featuring fashion wearables, accessories and jewelry by participating Show artists. On March 17, the looks created by each stylist will be modeled on the Show floor as guests watch the entire process, from hair and make- up application to putting each look together. in the Make Room program, which showcases vignettes curated by local interior designers and featuring fine craft objects. Style Slam Pop-Up’s fashion ensembles and Make Room’s vignettes will provide a unique opportunity for patrons to experience the intersection of high-end fashion and home décor. The stylists will award the craft pieces or artists’ booths that inspire them most with “Slammed” labels, as well as broadcast their finds on social media.

Each year, the American Craft Council hosts its American Craft Shows in four major cities in the U.S., attracting thousands of art collectors and craft enthusiasts. This year’s Atlanta Show will feature more than 230 contemporary artists exhibiting their fine craft objects in a variety of mediums. In addition to Style Slam, the Show provides a variety of interactive programs to engage show-goers of all ages including Hip Pop: an incubator program for emerging artists; Let’s Make: a playful hands-on way for show-goers to observe and try making themselves; and Make Room: a program that showcases professional interior designers incorporating fine craft into home décor.
