Wire & Wood, a festival that brings nationally recognized singer-songwriters to Alpharetta each fall, is kicking off a weekend of tunes and talent at Avalon on Friday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. with a free concert in The Plaza. Seth Walker and The Mosleys will perform, and guests are encouraged to grab a drink from their favorite Avalon spot, gather with friends and family and enjoy the show.
- Seth Walker: Over the past 10 years, Seth Walker has become recognized as one of the most revered modern roots artists in the United States; a three-dimensional talent comprised by a gift for combining melody and lyric alongside a rich, Gospel-drenched, Southern-inflected voice with a true blue knack for getting around on the guitar. His latest studio album, Gotta Get Back, produced by Jano Rix of The Wood Brothers, is yet another masterwork that further expands upon this reputation. Country Standard Time said it best: “If you subscribe to the Big Tent theory of Americana, then Seth Walker – with his blend of blues, gospel, pop, R&B, rock, and a dash country – just might be your poster boy.”
- The Mosleys: The Mosleys have five children and have been married for over ten years, but have only recently discovered their common voice as musicians. After playing exclusively for their children, The Mosleys snuck away to an Open Mic competition at Zac Brown’s Southern Ground in Senoia, Georgia. From there, they were invited to record at Southern Ground’s Crow’s Nest Studio in Atlanta. Though they’ve just recently begun to perform their brand of folk beyond their own front porch, Rachel and Stephen have quickly earned opportunities to share the stage with talents such as Liz Longley, opened for Air Supply at Chastain Park, and performed at the prestigious 30A Singer Songwriter Festival in Florida.
Wire & Wood continues on Saturday, Oct. 7 in downtown Alpharetta with songsmiths like Shawn Mullins, Matthew Sweet, Allen Stone and Chely Wright.
